Afterburner was featured on Local 15 TV in Mobile, AL in a segment titled "Veteran Uses Military Techniques In Medical Practice". During the segment, Dr. Max Rogers expands on his military career and background and how he’s applied his military strategies to the healthcare industry in Mobile by creating Afterburner Healthcare. Many will head out this weekend for events honoring the many veterans who call the Gulf Coast home. We sat down with one local vet who has used the techniques he learned in the military to build a successful medical practice.

Doctor Max Rogers is an OB/GYN practicing in Mobile. On display in his office alongside medical degrees are model fighter planes.

"I will never be able to truly shake my military roots," says Dr. Rogers, "especially the Marine Corps roots and aviation."

Before entering medical school, Rogers spent seven years as a pilot in the Marine Corps. He's taking a military technique called "flawless execution" and putting it to work in his practice.

It is no surprise that longtime F-15 fighter pilot Jim Murphy named his company Afterburner Inc. That time in the U.S. Air Force helped provide Murphy with the background he needed to start Afterburner, a company that offers team- building events and corporate workshops to companies of all sizes.

"I learned that there is a process that is simple to teach while also being scalable, which helps leaders lead and businesses grow," said Murphy, CEO of Afterburner. "The biggest piece of advice that I could give to current military veterans is that they often underestimate their value with the training and skill set they receive from their military experience, most notably accountability and execution."

Afterburner was featured in the Houston Business Journal in an article titled Atlanta energy safety firm Afterburner expands to The Woodlands, which was built from interviews with Afterburner CEO, Jim Murphy, and Admiral Ron Horton, executive vice president for safety and leadership. The article discusses how Afterburner has been able to apply military strategy and the Flawless Execution model and adapted it to business safety and planning. With the new Houston office, Horton will be able to focusing specifically on oil & gas companies based in Houston.

Conducting offshore drilling may not exactly require military efficiency, but an Atlanta firm set to open an office in The Woodlands composed of former special operations forces believes the same attention to detail used by Navy SEALS can translate to the oil patch.

Afterburner Inc. staff train day-to-day operators on offshore drilling missions on how to succeed and keep crews safe.
